DMX (rapper)

D.a.r.l.the wanted to read this because I’ve liked some of DMX’s music since he came out. I’m also a huge fan of memoirs and the like and wanted to see what his childhood and family-life was like. I got my wish. Even though I did end up liking his autobiography I do have certain problems with it.

My biggest problem is what while most of the time he seemed to talk or write straight from the heart, other times it was stilted. It was almost like he tried to make himself come off as more imtelligent when in I e.a.r.l.ths to read this because I’ve liked some of DMX’s music since he came out.

It was almost like he tried to make himself come off as more imtelligent when in actuality his words just ran around in circles and most of the time made no sense cmx. I think he’d have come off a lot better if he had kept it real and not tried to portray a certain image.

Now, this is a part of his life and that’s autobiogarphy but I’m an animal lover and don’t like reading about dog fights. I especially don’t like reading about dog fights when the person claims to be an animal lover as well.

He loves his dogs. Yet he had no problem teaching them to be vicious. The fact that he admitted that in the book speaks volumes to whoever is listening. He also spoke about God at e.r.l.the times. Apparently, he feels that people who start out with nothing, ‘in the dirt’ in his words, are valued more by God than people who start out life with something or another. It really makes me wonder if this is actually thoughts of his or if he just autbiography off with the first thing that came to mind.

That gives anything else I’ve ever heard a run for it’s money as the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard or off. In essance, E.a.d.l.the loves and values DMX more than me then. Even with the parts that I had complaints against, I still liked the book- reading about his childhood was e.a.r.l.hhe and learning about his come up in the rap world was even more so.

I’d probably really only recommend his book to hardcore DMX fans, which I am not. View all 8 comments. May aufobiography, Josh Ruiz rated it really liked it. Beginning with his early life, DMX has had to fight for everything in his life, from the attention his mother showed other men to where his next meal would come from. While I don’t o any of the violence or stealing, I do understand why someone who has gone through so dkx would turn to the streets and violence as a way to express their inward anger.

Despite all the odds After reading E. Despite all the odds that were stacked against him, DMX persevered to be a top selling artists and gain the fame and notiriety he always wanted While this story is a success, I can’t help but wonder about those who have been and are being raised in similar circumstances that don’t have an outlet such as music and who do not have the perseverance to stick to a craft.

Although he may not have intended to bring up social issues in this autobiography, I think that there are many issues in our system that stick out in this book which make us question whether there is anything else can be done to try to alleviate some of the harshest conditions some children have to endure ajtobiography up.

Sep 21, Cameron rated it it was amazing. This isn’t a book I would suggest to anyone looking for a great work of literatue, but if you’re interested in hearing about the ridiculous and outrageous story of Earl Simmons aka DMX then you’ve come to the right place. So when I found out that he had written an autobiography, I instantly headed to Borders and bought it.

This book is written in the same light as DMX’s lyrics, raw and uncut. He This isn’t a book I would suggest to anyone looking for a great work of literatue, but if you’re interested in hearing about the ridiculous and outrageous e.x.r.l.the of Earl Simmons aka DMX then you’ve come to the right place.

He tells the story from when he was a young child training his dogs to autobiogra;hy purses, all the way up to when he got his record deal and signed to Def Jam. If you think you had it bad, wait until you read about what DMX had to go through to get where he is at today, it didn’t seem real.

This is a very interesting story and I think anyone who read it would be moved very deeply. L” definitely doesn’t disappoint. S.a.r.l.the 14, Bobby Frank rated it it was amazing. The main setting of this book is mainly in Yonkers from s. The main c E.

Feb 27, jessica rated it it was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I recommend it to anyone and everyone who’s a DMX fan. When you take a beating at homeyou got no where to go you just gotta take it. Then that pain becomes inward until you become something you dont want to be.

Sometimes just sometimes that same pain can bring you somewhere like five albums straight debuting at number one. You cant deny that raw honest expression of DMX. Aug 04, Gift rated it it was amazing.

Earl always an inspiration. Dec 05, Eric Dirksen rated it really liked it. Apr 30, Tootah rated it liked it Shelves: For people looking to read the book, be advised: There are also minor mentions of rape, blatant homophobia more specifically lesbophobia and, of course, your run-of-the-mill drugs, sex, and profanity.

To begin with, I am not a music listener and more specifically not a DMX fan. I have not heard his music before and do not plan to.

I only picked the book up because I enjoy reading abo For people looking to read the book, be advised: I only picked the book up because I enjoy reading about people so unlike me. And from what I’ve heard, DMX is not like me.

While I thought the writing was great, the book is very manipulative and biased I know, I know; I shouldn’t be surprised since it’s an autobio, but still. I do believe most of the events occurred and that most of the people are who they are, but I do not believe, for example, that his relationship with his wife and child is as smooth as it is portrayed.

I don’t believe he is as righteous as he describes e.a.r.o.the “a thug with a golden heart” Despite this, I enjoyed the diverse perspective and don’t regret picking up E. It certainly made for an interesting e.a.r.l.the.

Apr 08, John L. Growing up tough in the streets of New York, young Earl recalls experiencing everything life has to deal him; love, hate, strife, struggle, abuse, and a sense of abandonment.

Over time, he developed and aurobiography his talent as a writer, and later a rapper. Anyone who has ever listened to his music will begin to understand what drives his lyrics like many others in xmx rap game. Jul 12, Brion Williams rated it it was amazing. This was a great book.

I enjoyed every minute of it. I remember not wanting to put autobiogeaphy book down and reading all night. Which I feel is a sign that a book is great because you can not pry yourself from it.

I recommend this book to anybody who wants to have a insight into why the rapper is as messed up as he is so they can see that it starts at the foundation of being raised. I also recommend this book to high school students in urban cities so that they can autoviography that you can achieve your dreams n This was a great book.
